What Public Relations is not
One thing PR is not about is "spin", or covering up and concealing disasters.
As the old saying goes in the PR business: "You can't pour perfume on a skunk".
What PR is about is the planned management of two-way communication with a variety of audiences.
It all works best on a foundation of good performance, good products, good service and good attitude. You have only one chance to make a first impression. The trick then is to keep public opinion on your side.
But "public opinion" is subject to change, sometimes with stunning speed. You need to keep up with, for example, social media commentary about you. Ideally, you need to be out in front, anticipating change and leading it.
In the end, you and your organization have public relations, whether you want them or not. The trick is to have and maintain good public relations.Do contact us for a chat about how we can assist you. Your first consultation is free.
